Cooking for Thanksgiving?

19 November 2009 | 10:33 am

When I was young I couldn’t wait to create beautiful memories for my children/family. Everything was going to be picture perfect. Now that I’m older - a mother - a wife - blah, blah, blah - I don’t care about picture perfect.

Last year we had the closest it will ever be to picture perfect. The Wednesday before Thanksgiving all 5 of us cooked in the kitchen. It was a mess, but we had fun. The meal was fine the next day, but really the yelling, screaming and laughing the day before was Thanksgiving.

This year we’re going to my grandfathers. It will be a mad house. Pot luck will consist of turkey sandwiches with chips. Trust me the chips will make Eddie happy. Cousins by the handful will play some flag football in the back field. Gramps will doze in and out of the conversation. Not what I wanted when I was younger, but now picture perfect.

I might not even prepare anything close to a traditional Thanksgiving food item. I might bring along Chex Mix with some boxed wine.

If you are so inclined to cook, below is a link for a FREE Thanksgiving eCookbook. Don’t forget the boxed wine.

Thanks for visiting and please come back often. My goal is to save money and help others save money while not giving up an evening glass of wine. CLICK HERE to join me on Facebook.
