My Weekly Grocery Trip

Look what I got for $40.10.

I ran to Meijer this morning for our weekly groceries. Above is an example of how I’m doing. I’ve been spending between $40 and $60 a week. You will see by the photo above, we wouldn’t survive on just those items. We don’t have to because I have stockpiled. I have chicken breasts/meat items in the freezer. Many frozen vegetables. I buy what’s in season. Today I bought 4 boxes of taco shells they ended up costing only 13¢ per box. I grabbed 2 canisters of frosting because they were FREE with a combination of a manufacturer coupon & a Meijer Mealbox coupon.

I bought grapes, apples, garlic, eggs, bread, salad, organic milk, yogurt and half & half (that’s for Kevin’s coffee - he’s very spoiled). The box of Honey Bunches of Oats ended up costing 39¢ after using a $2 off coupon. The Chex selects were only 19¢ each. I use those for spoiling the kids’ school lunches.

I rarely buy crescent rolls, but they were on sale, I had a coupon and I have a surplus of hotdogs from previous trips. My kids love Pigs in a Blanket. Each can cost 74¢ each. Healthy Ones deli meats were only 99¢ after a coupon. 4 Progress Soups for 79¢ each. 4 boxes of Nature Valley granola bars - great for between school & volleyball games/practice - $1.04 per box.

Today I spent $40.10 for the above. I saved $50.99 (Meijer promotion/non-coupon savings $33.59 & $17.40 in coupons).

It has become a game. I feel like I’m stealing when I leave the store. Why didn’t I do this years ago?

Thanks for visiting and please come back often. My goal is to save money and help others save money while not giving up an evening glass of wine. CLICK HERE to join me on Facebook.
